IVF Treatment – The Potential Benefits

IVF treatment is a way to help a couple conceive a child if they are having difficulty conceiving the child they want. IVF egg freezing is usually the last stop on a journey that consists of many different methods to help conception occur naturally, and when all other methods fail, then IVF treatment is usually considered.

What is IVF?

IVF is an acronym for in vitro fertilization, a method that has been around for over 30 years, and children born from this method of conception are often referred to as “test tube babies.” Before embarking on this treatment, doctors and specialists will carefully study the medical history of the couple, and although it will involve both the man and the woman, the woman’s health should be monitored more closely. This is IVF egg freezing because there may be underlying and previously undetected health problems that can have a detrimental effect on the embryo once it has moved into the womb.

Different types of treatment

Traditional IVF treatment is universally the most popular form of treatment, however there are a number of deviations from traditional, and this is for people who have certain religious beliefs, or because specialists believe that there is a better chance of successful treatment.

ICSI or Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection is another IVF-style treatment, but one that has one major difference in the technique used from the traditional form of IVF egg freezing. The main difference between the two treatments is the method by which the sperm is injected into the egg, in the standard treatment the sperm and egg are placed in a vessel and left for conception in the usual way, with ICSI the sperm is actually injected into the egg to make conception faster and guaranteed.
